Experience Nature and Recreation in the Creston Valley

Combining recreation, conservation, research, and education, the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area is a spectacular place to visit over 375 species of wildlife. Year-Round self-guided walking trails, covered multi-level viewing towers, and boardwalk trails allow visitors to access the 32-kilometer network of trails by hiking, biking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

The Kootenay-Columbia Discovery-Centre Society, located within the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area offers environmental education and awareness. Naturalists are on-site seasonally to deliver guided canoe and walking tours and a variety of special events and programs. The Nature Centre is open from May to October and offers educational displays and information, hands-on activities, trail information, a small gift shop and washrooms.

Looking to play a round of golf? The Creston Valley Golf Club is known as one of the finest competitive venues in golf and has carried a storied history since its inception in 1954. The course is playable for every level of golfer, from novice to expert. Following your first round, relax on the clubhouse balcony, enjoy a meal or refreshment, re-live the towering tee-shots hit at #7 and #12.

Founded in 2010 the Kunze Gallery has been dedicated to exhibiting painting, sculptures, photography, ceramics, and printmaking from both emerging and established artists. Spend an afternoon exploring and learning about the Yaqan Nukiy people at Legend Logos and the Yaquan Nukiy Heritage Centre. Legend Logos is an aboriginal experience with unique gift items including garments with Native artwork, Canadian souvenirs, beadwork, jewelry, blankets, clothing, moccasins, and plant medicines. The Yaqan Nukiy Heritage Centre is located inside the Legend Logos building showcasing photos from the early 1900s, a tulle tipi, a sturgeon-nosed canoe, fish traps, cradleboards, and dance regalia are located on site for viewing. Baillie-Grohman Estate Winery is named after one of the Creston Valley most legendary pioneers, William Baillie-Grohman. William Baillie-Grohman. first came to Creston hunting goats with Teddy Roosevelt. Baillie-Grohman Estate Winery produces small lots of premium award-winning wines in a boutique craft winery. Be sure to stop by the tasting room or sit on the patio and enjoy with a cheese tray with a glass of wine. Tours can be arranged by appointment.

Experience unique BC wines grown in mineral-rich soils on the south end of Kootenay Lake at Wynnwood Cellars Estate Winery. This small boutique winery produces wines with a complexity and an ethos of antiquity. Be sure to stop by the winery’s tasting room for Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Viognier Chardonnay. Tours are available from mid-May to mid-October.

Creston Farmer's Market

The Creston Museum is the place to discover the stories of the Creston Valley. The industries, the people, the activities that built the communities if you have questions, The Creston Museum has the answers. The museum can explain Creston’s wacky time zone, the steamship that became a tractor (sort of), the first airplane to land in Creston, and the teacher who refused to be fired and so much more. The Creston Museum is a must see!

Columbia Brewery is located in picturesque Creston and is part of the rich brewing tradition of the region. The brewery traces its heritage to the Fort Steele Brewery, established in 1898. Columbia Brewery began brewing its celebrated Kokanee lager in 1959 and was purchased by Labatt in 1974. Columbia Brewery produces the world famous Kokanee beer. Tours include a historical chronicle of brewing with samples at the end of the tour. Tours take place mid-May to mid-October. The Kokanee Beer Gear Store offers a large selection of Kokanee collectibles and clothing.
